Balooshegadoos

What is a Balooshegadoo? It was a word Katy's grandfather made up to describe something that was interesting to look at but had no function, like a tchotchke or a knick-knack. As the story goes, one day he received a gift that he loved, but didn't know what it was. He exclaimed, “It’s a Balooshedgadoo!” And the name stuck in the family lexicon. Katy was making one of her first pieces while she was in Memphis visiting her parents. Her mom saw it and said, “You’re making a Balooshegadoo; I want one!” And the name was born. Katy gave her mom one for her next birthday.
